● ½ tsp. Baking powder
● ½ tsp., plus ¼ tsp . salt, divided
● 2 ½ cups granulated sugar
● 4 large eggs
● 1 cup mayonnaise
● 2 tsp. Vanilla extract, divided
● 1 ¼ cups bittersweet chocolate chips
● 2 Tbsp. Light corn syrup
● 3 – 4 Tbsp. heavy cream, divided
● ¾ Tbsp unsalted butter, softened
● 4 cups powered sugar, divided

● Step 1.
Combine coffee and cocoa: Combine the coffee and cocoa in a bowl,
whisking until smooth. Allow the mixture to sit until it reaches room temperature .
● Step 2. Prepare oven and cake pans:
Set the oven to 350°F. Prepare three 9-inch
round cake pans by greasing and flouring them.
● Step 3. Make cake batter:
In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking
powder, and ½ teaspoon salt, In a large bowl, beat the granulated sugar and eggs
until they become light and fluffy. Mix in the mayonnaise and 1 ½ teaspoons of vanilla
extract. Gradually add the flour mixture and coffee mixture to the egg mixture ,
alternating between the two and starting and ending with the flour mixture, for a total
of five additions.
